Robert Yates is the owner of Brampton Willows based in the beautiful Suffolk countryside between Beccles and Southwold. Robert trained and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor before returning to the family farm at Brampton in 1985. He started growing willow as an experimental crop to sell to a local basket maker. He soon began to weave the willow himself and set up Brampton Willows in 1988 specialising in designing and making bespoke willow products mainly for the garden but also making cross country obstacles for top international Horse Trials including Badminton and Burghley.

News of his superb skill in producing these unique products has spread around the world. As well as European clients he has also provided bespoke willow fencing for a client based in the Bahamas.

Following an exhibition at Snape Maltings in 2013 he was commissioned to produce his most challenging artistic creation - a 4 metre diameter willow propeller for award winning London architects Studio RHE to be used as the centre piece for one of their projects.

As a result of the 'propeller', Robert was then commissioned to make a willow and bronze sculpture of King Kong for a client in The Seychelles. It is about 3m long, s.5m tall, 2.3m wide and weighs around 300kg. It was made around an integral stainless steel armature with a cast bronze face sculpted by Robert's wife, Susie.

After being imprisoned inside a shipping crate for three years, King Kong has at last finally arrived in his new home as a centrepiece inside a very large house on a private island in The Seychelles.

In 2016 Robert went on to make a 6m long Iguana for a client in the UK.
